What is live scan fingerprinting?

• Live scan fingerprinting is the process of electronically capturing an applicant’s fingerprints using our advanced equipment. Live scan fingerprinting is inkless.
• The Live Scan Provider (LSP) transmits your electronically captured fingerprints to Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for completion of your requested Level 2 Background Check. Results are sent by FDLE to the applicant’s requesting agency.

Does Fortis Biometric Services accept walk-ins?

• Unfortunately, we are not currently accepting walk-ins. Appointments can be made via email, telephone, or on the website. We apologize for any inconvenience.

What items do I need to bring and have readily available for my appointment?

• Must have a valid, unexpired form of Government-issued photo ID (State Driver's License, DMV ID card, Passport, Military ID, Federal Gov’t PIV Card, Permanent Resident Card). Please call us for other ID options.
• Originating Agency Identifier (ORI) number. Your employer or regulatory agency will have this information. Please ascertain that you provide the correct ORI number to the live scan provider. If ORI number is incorrect, your fingerprint results will be delayed or rejected. Providing the correct ORI number is extremely important.

What should I expect during my fingerprinting process?

• The live scan process can be very simple to complete. All we ask is that our clients remain relaxed and allow the fingerprint technician to do the “rolling” of your fingers during the process. This will prevent smudges and cause for reprints and will allow for a more efficient and speedy process.

How do I get my live scan fingerprint results?

• FDLE sends your results to your requesting agency or employer. Please contact your agency to confirm their receipt of your results.

How long does it take for Level 2 Background Checks to be processed?

• Typically results get to your agency from FDLE within approximately 24-72 hours.

How do I follow the status of my transaction?

• We, the Live Scan Provider, will provide you with a Transaction Control Number (TCN) that you will use to search the status of your fingerprint transaction. Please use this link https://cchinet.fdle.state.fl.us/search/app/tcnlookup?8

What is the cost of getting live scan fingerprints for Level 2 Background Check?

• Costs are dependent on the ORI number provided to the LSP. FDLE charges a separate transaction fee which in addition to the Live Scan Provider’s service fee will be your total cost. Total costs will change as FDLE fees change. The FDLE transaction fee is not taxed by the LSP.
